Getting Involved

St. Anne Catholic School relies heavily on each parent and guardian's contribution of volunteer time. Only through the volunteer efforts of families can St. Anne Catholic School provide an outstanding education while keeping the tuition as affordable as possible. Additionally, we believe that the volunteer contributions of parents and guardians set an important example to students regarding the importance of community involvement.

St. Anne Catholic School requires each family to volunteer at least 20 hours each school year. Families may help with school fundraisers, chaperone field trips, bake goodies for class parties, or serve on one of the many committees devoted to improving the school. Additional information about volunteer opportunities is also available at PTO meetings, at the School Office, and through the Volunteer Coordinator. For those families new to the St. Anne community-- and especially for those new to Sumter-- volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know other St. Anne families.

Prior to volunteering in a setting where children will be present, volunteers must attend VIRTUS (a sexual abuse prevention workshop sponsored by the Diocese of Charleston) and consent to a background screen. Contact the Safe Environment Coordinator for additional information.

Families who are unable to fulfill their 20 hour volunteer obligation may "buy out" their volunteer hours by donating needed items or funds to the school. For every $10 donation in items or funds, the family may deduct one hour of volunteer time. Families should record their volunteer hours and receipts for donated items/funds in the volunteer notebook in the school office.
